Trucking

Three primary transportation routes transect Lyon County; Interstate 80 parallels the northwest border of the county, and continues west to San Francisco (via Reno/Sparks) and east to Salt Lake City. U.S. Highway 50 also crosses east-west through the county, continuing westbound through Carson City, and eastbound through Ely. U.S. Highway 95A spurs off I-80 and runs north-south, passing through Yerington on its way to Las Vegas. Several state routes provide access to the rural areas. Approximately sixty regional and national carriers are available for shipments in and out of Lyon County.

Northern Nevada has nearly 7,500 acres of Foreign Trade Zones. A Foreign Trade Zone is designated by the United States Customs Department and allows foreign and domestic merchandise to be admitted for operations such as storage, exhibition, assembly, manufacture, and processing, without being subject to formal Customs entry procedures, the payment of Customs duties or the payment of federal excise taxes.

Dayton Valley Airpark

Silver Springs Airport is located approximately 40 miles northeast of Carson City. This airport is a public facility serving the general aviation needs of northern Lyon County. The current runway is 6,900 feet long and 150 feet wide. The potential for several on-airport, aviation related manufacturing operations are excellent.

The Yerington Municipal Airport is located approximately 70 miles southeast of Carson City. This airport also serves the general aviation needs of Lyon County. The airport has one runway 5,800 feet in length and 75 feet wide. There is also a 200-foot chevron on each end of the runway (total pavement is 6,200 foot) and a taxiway. The airport's an excellent facility for light- to medium-size business jets.

Reno/Tahoe International Airport
Reno/Tahoe International Airport is located a short distance from the tri-county area. Reno/Tahoe is the nation's 45th busiest airport. Each day the airport handles approximately 17,000 arriving/departing passengers, 283,000 pounds of cargo arriving/departing and 420 aircraft operations. There are three runways, the main runway is 11,000 ft, the crosswind runway is 6,100 ft. and a parallel runway that is 9,000 ft. U.S. Customs and Immigration Offices are located on the airport premises. Reno/Tahoe international is a landing rights airport and Port of Entry.
